LIGULARIA

LIGULARIA

ASTERACEAE

These deciduous perennials are valued for both their attractive, large leaves and also their tall clusters of yellow or orange daisy flowers.

Although there are about 180 species to be found growing in damp conditions in mountainous areas across Europe to the Himalayas, and into Japan and China, only ten are common in cultivation.

They do best in a moist, fertile soil in part-shade. They will tolerate more sun in a very moisture-retentive soil and are ideal for a bog garden or pond-side location.
